The National Party has announced its opposition to the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

In a statement issued by the party’s central spokesperson, it was said that after the draft of the 27th Amendment was presented in the Senate of Pakistan, the National Party consulted its legal experts and held detailed discussions on the matter at the party’s responsible forums.

The spokesperson stated that the 27th Amendment is, in fact, tantamount to weakening the basic spirit and constitutional structure of the Constitution. Therefore, the party’s constitutional bodies have rejected the amendment by a majority vote.

The National Party reaffirmed that it will strongly oppose this constitutional amendment.
