TURBAT: In a significant political development in Balochistan, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti arrived in Turbat along with a delegation of federal ministers and held a detailed meeting with National Party (NP) President Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and the party’s senior leadership.
According to official sources, the meeting continued for several hours and focused primarily on the 27th Constitutional Amendment, a proposal that has sparked intense debate across Pakistan’s political spectrum. The government delegation delivered a special message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging the National Party to reconsider its stance and extend support for the amendment.
However, the National Party leadership maintained its cautious approach, refraining from giving an immediate response. The party leaders stated that a final decision on the matter would be made after internal consultation and party deliberation.
It is worth mentioning that the National Party has previously opposed the 27th Constitutional Amendment, describing it as contrary to democratic principles, provincial autonomy, and the supremacy of parliament.
The delegation accompanying Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti included Federal Ministers Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Rana Sanaullah, while Deputy Commissioner Kech Basheer Ahmed Badeech was also in attendance.
From the National Party, the meeting was attended by Secretary General and former Senator Mir Kabir Mohammad Shahi, Senator Jan Mohammad Buledi, MNA Pichleen Baloch, MPAs Khair Jan Baloch and Rehmat Saleh Baloch, former Senator Khuda Akram Dashti, Haji Fida Hussain Dashti, Mir Hammal Baloch, Waja Abul Hassan, Dr. Noor Baloch, Mohammad Jan Dashti, Kech Mayor Balakh Sher Qazi, Bajar Baloch, and several other senior party members.
Political analysts believe that this high-profile meeting could reshape Balochistan’s political landscape and influence upcoming parliamentary decisions and provincial alliances. The National Party’s final position on the 27th Constitutional Amendment is expected to be announced in the coming days.
