Brazil: At the Global Climate Change Seminar held in Brazil, Balochistan’s Provincial Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran delivered a powerful address, drawing international attention to the severity of the environmental crisis facing the province. He emphasized that Balochistan, along with North Pakistan, was among the regions most affected by climate change during 2022.
Sardar Khetran stated that prolonged droughts, devastating floods, and irregular rainfall patterns have created unprecedented challenges for the people of Balochistan. He urged the global community to step forward and support the province in addressing these climate-induced hardships.
The minister stressed that access to green financing, climate-resilient development funds, and e-mobility technology is essential for Balochistan’s sustainable future. During the seminar, Sardar Khetran also held important meetings with ministers and climate experts from multiple countries.
He presented detailed briefings on Balochistan’s initiatives regarding forest restoration, water conservation, and modern waste management systems. International delegates appreciated the recommendations put forth by Balochistan and assured full cooperation and future collaboration.
Sardar Khetran affirmed that all ongoing and upcoming environmental projects in the province will be upgraded to meet international standards.
The provincial minister was accompanied by PHED Secretary Hashim Ghilzai, Tanveer Jamot, and Yousaf James during the seminar.
