Syed Muhammad Qaseem: Balochistan Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani has said that around 45,000 children have returned to schools across the province as part of ongoing efforts to address the education crisis.

Speaking on the issue of school enrollment, the minister said the provincial government is taking concrete steps to bring out-of-school children back into the education system. She added that the matter of teacher appointments under the SBK (School Based Recruitment) system will also be reviewed to ensure transparency and effective staffing in schools.

The minister acknowledged the scale of the challenge facing the education sector in Balochistan. She referred to a report issued by the Balochistan Education Department in January 2025, which revealed that nearly 3.1 million children in the province are currently out of school.

Raheela Durrani said improving access to education remains a top priority for the government, stressing that increasing enrollment, resolving teacher shortages, and strengthening school infrastructure are key areas of focus.

Education experts say while the return of thousands of children to schools is a positive development, sustained policy measures and administrative reforms are needed to address the long-standing issue of out-of-school children in the province.
