News Desk: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday renewed concerns over the health of its incarcerated founder Imran Khan, citing credible information that the former prime minister is suffering from a serious eye condition that could result in permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.
In a statement issued on social media platform X, the party demanded unrestricted access for Imran Khan to meet his family and close associates and called for his immediate medical treatment at a hospital of his own choice.
According to PTI, reports indicate that Imran Khan has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, a condition involving blockage of the retinal vein that requires urgent and specialized medical care. Medical experts who examined him in jail reportedly warned that any delay in treatment could cause irreversible damage to his eyesight.
The party said the jail administration is insisting on conducting treatment inside the prison despite medical advice that such care requires advanced facilities, including an operation theatre, which are not available within the jail.
PTI further stated that Imran Khan was last examined by his personal physician in October 2024 and has since been denied further medical consultations despite orders from the Islamabad High Court. The party termed this a violation of court directives and fundamental rights, adding that a petition seeking regular medical check-ups has remained pending since August 2025.
The party urged the judiciary to treat the matter as a humanitarian issue and ensure immediate and adequate medical care. PTI warned that any permanent damage to Imran Khan’s eyesight would place responsibility on the government and the Adiala Jail administration.
