Quetta: As Ramazan begins, the Balochistan government has launched a province-wide relief package to support families struggling with rising living costs. Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Director General PDMA Jehanzaib Khan said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that no deserving household is left without basic food support during the holy month.
He explained that, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Ramazan Relief Package will reach 328,000 low-income families in all districts of the province. Supplies have already been delivered to over 20 districts, allowing distribution to begin without delay.
To improve transparency and restore public trust, the government has revised the distribution process this year. Relief items will be handed out through an eight-member District Coordination Committee, formed to ensure fair distribution and prevent misuse.
The PDMA chief assured that the quality of ration would meet set standards and that the assistance would strictly be limited to deserving families. “This support is meant for those who truly need it,” he said, adding that monitoring mechanisms are in place at every level.
Each relief package has been prepared to cover a family’s food requirements for around 15 days, providing timely relief during the most demanding part of Ramazan.
Jahanzeb Khan said the government remains committed to delivering aid with dignity, transparency, and care, calling the relief package a step toward easing the daily hardships faced by vulnerable communities during the holy month.
