Quetta, February 18: Chief Minister Balochistan chaired a high-level meeting to assess police performance and capacity following the integration of the Levies force into the provincial police system.
Officials from the Home Department briefed the meeting on progress made after the merger and outlined future steps aimed at strengthening law enforcement across the province. The chief minister approved both short-term and long-term reforms to modernize policing in line with present-day requirements.
The meeting decided to appoint 46 new Sub-Divisional Police Officers across Balochistan to enhance supervision and improve administrative efficiency. Directions were also issued for the immediate formation of a new police administrative structure at divisional and district levels, along with the provision of necessary resources.
The chief minister emphasized that the government would ensure full support to strengthen police capacity, noting that the force faces challenges ranging from routine social crimes to serious threats such as terrorism. He stressed that training and the use of modern technology are being prioritized to improve operational effectiveness.
It was further directed that policing boundaries and administrative mechanisms be improved after the Levies merger to ensure better public services and maintain law and order. The chief minister stated that safeguarding citizens’ lives and property is a core responsibility of the state and that negligence will not be tolerated.
The meeting also agreed to establish a regular and effective monitoring system to evaluate police performance in all districts. Emphasis was placed on promoting the rule of law and a merit-based system to strengthen public confidence.
Senior provincial officials, including top administrative and police leadership, attended the meeting.
