Islamabad: Good news for all internet users! Pakistan has officially entered the 5G era. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted 5G licenses to Jazz, Zong, and Ufone, allowing them to start commercial services across the country.
The signing ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, PTA Chairman Hafeezur Rehman, and senior telecom executives attended the event.
Jazz and Zong have already started rolling out 5G services in major cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, and Faisalabad. Ufone will join soon. Coverage will expand step by step in the coming months.
What 5G Brings to You
With 5G, you can expect super-fast internet — up to 10-20 times faster than 4G. Enjoy:
• Buffer-free 4K and 8K video streaming
• Smooth online gaming with no lag
• Crystal-clear video calls
• Quick downloads even in busy areas
This technology will also help smart cities, online education, telemedicine, farming, and business growth across Pakistan.
The 5G spectrum auction recently brought in around $510 million (Rs142.6 billion) for the country. Jazz got the biggest share, followed by Ufone and Zong.
How to Use 5G
Make sure your phone supports 5G (most phones made after 2020 do). Keep your software updated and check your operator’s app or website for 5G coverage in your area.
4G services will also get better with the new spectrum.
This is a big step towards the government’s Digital Pakistan dream. Faster internet is finally here!
