News Desk: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has said that the youth of the province are patriotic and must stand firm against negative propaganda on social media. Addressing the closing ceremony of the National Youth Summit in Gwadar, he emphasized that young people are the future of Pakistan and that criticism should be constructive rather than destructive.
Bugti assured participants that the government is committed to restoring the youth’s trust in the state by listening to their grievances and addressing their concerns. “We are accountable to our youth, and the Constitution of Pakistan binds us to this responsibility,” he stated.
Highlighting the importance of good governance, merit, and transparency, the Chief Minister said these principles are essential for eliminating terrorism and ensuring sustainable peace. He noted that his purpose at the summit was not to deliver lengthy speeches but to hear directly from the youth about their problems and complaints.
During a 45-minute interactive session, students raised questions about merit-based recruitment, employment opportunities, and development projects. Bugti clarified that all appointments in the province are being made strictly on merit and that corruption or irregularities will not be tolerated. He cited recent disciplinary action against education officials in Turbat and stressed that transparency is being enforced across institutions, including the Balochistan Constabulary Police.
The Chief Minister also criticized unnecessary expenditures, such as fuel costs for outdated government vehicles, and vowed to ensure efficient use of public resources. He underscored that development is impossible without eradicating corruption and mismanagement.
On the role of social media, Bugti warned that certain elements are attempting to mislead the youth, but the government is countering this through awareness campaigns and positive initiatives. He praised Gwadar as a model district where all public schools are functional and none remain closed.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment, Bugti said that providing merit, transparency, and equal opportunities to the youth of Balochistan is a top priority, and all available resources will be utilized to achieve this goal.
Earlier, the ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem. Local girls welcomed the Chief Minister in traditional style, while students of Government Girls Shambe Ismail School presented a cultural tableau. Provincial Advisor on Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majid Baloch, and Minister for Planning and Development, Zahoor Buledi, also addressed the gathering, pledging to highlight the talents of Balochistan’s youth.
