Islamabad: The High-level negotiations between the United States and Iran held in Islamabad have ended without a final agreement, marking a significant setback in ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.

After more than 20 hours of intensive discussions, both sides failed to resolve key differences despite what officials described as substantive engagement. JD Vance, who led the US delegation, confirmed the outcome during a press briefing.

He stated that although progress was made in discussions, no deal could be reached. Vance emphasized that the United States had presented its “best and final offer,” but Iran chose not to accept the proposed terms, resulting in the collapse of negotiations.

The talks, facilitated in Pakistan, were considered a rare and significant diplomatic effort, representing one of the highest-level direct engagements between the two countries in decades.

The failure to reach an agreement raises concerns about the stability of the region and the future of diplomatic relations between Washington and Tehran. It also puts ongoing ceasefire efforts and broader peace initiatives at risk, potentially increasing geopolitical tensions.
