Harnai: Landslide kills 4 coal miners

At least 4 coal miners were killed when a landslide hit them in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Saturday. Levies sources said the incident happened in the Shahrag area of the district.

The landslide hit them when they were working thousands of feet deep inside the coal mine, Levies said.

Miners from nearby mines rushed towards the affected mine and retrieved the dead bodies after hectic efforts. The dead bodies shifted to district headquarters hospital Harnai. The victims were identified as Abdul Nafi, Zabiullah, Mamoor, and Asmatullah. Two victims belonged to Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa’s Swat and two belonged to Afghanistan.

Hazardous working conditions claiming precious human lives 

Hazardous working conditions inside coal mines of Balochistan have claimed scores of precious human lives. Miners have been extracting coal from mines without any required safety conditions.

Such incidents inside coal mines of Balochistan have become the order of the day. Deaths of miners in Harnai, Shah rag, Khost, Dukki, Chamlang, Mach, Sorange, Degari, and the Marwar area of Balochistan are common.
