Blast targeting Chinese vehicle in Gwadar kills 2 children

A blast in Gwadar has killed 2 children on Friday evening. A Chinese vehicle was the target of the blast, police said. “It was a suicide blast”, they said. However, three people including a Chinese national were injured in the blast. Police said the bomb went off near Gwadar Expressway.
The blast, which was heard far and wide caused panic in the area.
Police were quick at the spot and shifted the injured children to Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) hospital for medical treatment. Emergency imposed in the hospital to provide better medical treatment to injured of the blast.

“We strongly condemn this terror attack on Chinese nationals”, Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan tweeted on Friday. The perpetrators of the blast would be brought to book, he said.

Police investigating the nature of the blast 

“We are investigating the nature of the blast”, a police official said. He requested anonymity. Police said an 11-year old and 10-year-old child died in the explosion. “The blast seems to be suicide”, the official said. The victims belonged to the Nagori area of the port city of Pakistan.

DC Gwadar reaches the spot

Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Kabir Zarkoon, and other high-level officials reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway. Forces cordoned off the area to probe into the incident. Police, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the spot.

Security tightened in and around the port city of the country in the aftermath of the blast. Checking tightened at all exit and entry points of Gwadar after the incident.

Gwadar to link China, landlocked Central Asian States with the outer world 

Pakistan has developed a multi-million dollar Gwadar Deep Sea Port Project with the financial and technical assistance of the Chinese government. The port has provided an access to China, Afghanistan, and the landlocked Central Asian states to export their products to the outer world.

Gwadar port has opened new vistas of development and prosperity in the region. China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) declared to be a game-changer in the region in terms of economic development.

Miscreants in the coastal belt have repeatedly targeted security forces and Chinese nationals in the past. However, the security situation has improved in the coastal belt and Gwadar after successful intelligence-based operations in the area.
