CHAMAN: Pak-Afghan border Chaman would be reopened tomorrow (Tuesday) after more than a month’s closure. Successful negotiations were held between officials from Pakistan and Afghanistan at the Flag meeting on Monday.

“Border would be reopened from tomorrow”, a senior administration official told Quetta Voice. He said trade activities and pedestrians movement would be restored between the two countries. Reopening of border was one of the long standing demands of people living on both sides of the border.

Pakistan officials led by deputy commissioner Chaman, Captain (R) Jumadad Mandokhail and Afghan Taliban thoroughly discussed relating to the border and decided to reopen it. Border officials from the two countries removed barricades placed at the border on Monday evening.

“This is good news for us”, Jalat Khan Achakzai, the former president of Chaman Chamber of Commerce said. He said traders community remained the worst sufferer of the closure of the border.
