Boycott ends: BHC orders YDA to resume duties

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) has ordered the protesting doctors to resume their duties and end the boycott of OPDs. A division bench of the BHC comprising Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch passed this order on a constitutional petition filed by barrister Amir Lehri on Friday.

Office-bearers of the YDA appeared before the court. Secretaries’ health department including Noor ul Haq Baloch and Aziz Ahmed Jamali also appeared before the court. The court directed the YDA President, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, Dr. Tahir Musakhail, the Vice-President, and Dr. Malik Kakar the General Secretary to appear before the court at 9:30 am. Advertisements were also published in the newspapers regarding the appearance order of doctors.

“Your job is duty and equipment is government’s responsibility”, CJ BHC, Naeem Akhtar Afghan said. During the hearing, the top judge of the province directed the protesting doctors to ensure their presence in OPDs and serve the ailing humanity.

The bench directed the Inspector General of Police Balochistan to ensure strict security measures at all government-run hospitals. The case adjourned till Monday, November 8.
