Children died in Killa Abdullah during MR campaign were not vaccinated

QUETTA: Children who died in Balochistan’s district Killa Abdullah during the Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign were not vaccinated, the investigation report revealed. Balochistan health department had formed an investigation committee comprising five officers to probe into the incident.

Quetta Voice obtained a copy of the committee’s report.

Members of the committee met family members, elders of the village to ascertain facts leading to the death of children in the province’s Killa Abdullah district. Investigation revealed that the family had refused vaccination. “The children were not vaccinated for MR and the children are most likely to have gone undergone complications of measles resulting eventually in death”, the report concluded.

There was no immediate response from the father of the kids, Sher Ali. Mr. Ali had told this daily that vaccination had caused the death of his children. Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo had taken the notice of the death of three children as a result of MR vaccination.
