Manan Mandokhail:
QUETTA: Chief of National Party (NP), Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has announced to launch ‘Save Reko Diq’ campaign across the country. Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Wednesday, the Baloch nationalist leader said, “we will not accept this agreement until it is made public”.
NP leaders Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Dr. Ishaq Baloch, Khair Bakhsh Baloch, and others were also present on the occasion. Dr. Baloch’s announcement has come after an in-camera session of the Balochistan Assembly regarding the multi-billion dollar project.
“Masses of Balochistan have to be taken on board regarding the Reko Diq Project agreement”, the NP Chief mentioned. He said the party’s central committee meeting would be held in Karachi on January 7th and 8th to devise a strategy for launching a countrywide movement against the proposed agreement.
The gold and copper project belongs to the people of Balochistan
Dr. Malik Baloch said the gold and copper project belongs to the people of Balochistan and none would be allowed to compromise over the rights of people. When asked about the invitation to him in the in-camera session, he said, “When we are not in the assembly we cannot endorse such anti-Balochistan agreement”.
Dr. Baloch recalled that as a chief minister of Balochistan he had refused to sign the Saindak project. “We are the guardians of rights of people of Balochistan”, the Baloch nationalist leader said. He reiterated that his party would never be part of any anti-Balochistan project.
