Blast in Lahore kills 3 and injured around two dozen

LAHORE: A powerful blast has killed 3 people and injured around two dozen people in the Anar Kali area of Lahore on Thursday. Police said a child was also among the dead. The bomb went off in one of the busiest areas of the city.

Rana Arif, the Spokesman for Lahore police said terrorists had planted a bomb in a motorcycle parked on the roadside. The bomb went off with a big bang causing casualties in the area. Police and rescue workers were quick at the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Emergency was imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured of the blast that rocked the entire area. Speaking to reporters at the scene of the incident, Lahore Police DIG Operations Abid Khan said that the impact of the blast had left behind a crater which suggested that it was caused by a bomb.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and directed the inspector general of police to submit a report in this regard. He also directed officials to provide the injured with the best possible medical facilities.

In a separate statement, Buzdar condemned the blast and said that those responsible would be arrested and justice would be ensured. “This incident is aimed at sabotaging the atmosphere of law and order. Those responsible for the blast will not be able to escape the clutches of the law,” he said.
