Former President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Amanullah Kanrani advocate has filed a constitutional petition seeking the disqualification of Prime Minister Imran Khan for his ‘threats’ to former President Asif Ali Zardari.

The Premier in his speech had leveled serious allegations against the former President Asif Ali Zardari in his speech in Karachi the other day. “My first target is Asif Zardari now”, the PM stated.

Under article 62, 63 of the Constitution, the PM can be disqualified for threatening and using rough language against Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, senior lawyer Amanullah Kanrani pleaded in the petition.

Mr. Kanrani said that Pakistan is an Islamic State under article-2 of the Constitution. Under article-31 of the Constitution, the PM is bound to abide by the Islamic values and their implementation. The SCBA President mentioned that the Premier can neither threaten nor use filthy language against any citizens of Pakistan. Therefore, the court is requested to disqualify the PM and order new elections for the post, the petition concluded.
