HARNAI, QUETTA: After 110 hours of the rescue operation, three trapped coal miners were rescued in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Saturday evening. “All three coal miners are alive”, Sardar Rafique Tareen, Deputy Commissioner Harnai told Quetta Voice via telephone.

Six coal miners were trapped inside a mine in the Zarghoon Ghar area of Harnai on March 22nd. Rescue workers had rescued three coal miners soon after a methane gas blast. However, three coal miners were trapped inside the mine.

“After 110 hours, hectic rescue operation, we have recovered the miners alive”, Mr. Tareen said. Health professionals from the PPHI provided first aid to the three coal miners, Dawood Khan, an official of the PPHI said.

The condition of one of the rescued miners is serious, Mr. Khan said. The rescue coal miners were identified as Syed Muhammad, Jameel ur Rehman and Muhammad Saleem. The rescued injured coal miners would be brought to Quetta for medical treatment, the PPHI official informed.

Deputy Commissioner, Sardar Rafique Tareen has also formed a committee to conduct an inspection of coal mines located in the district after this incident. The committee would also collect whole data of the miners working in coal mines of Harnai, a letter issued by the DC’s office said.
