QUETTA: Balochistan cabinet has approved the launching of health cards for 1.8 million families across the province on Saturday. Chief Minister, Mir Quddus Bizenjo chaired an important meeting of the provincial cabinet, which made this important decision with regard to the provision of health facilities to the masses.

“Each family to have Rs. 1 million health card”, an official handout quoting the decision of the cabinet meeting said. Secretary health Noor ul Haq Baloch thoroughly briefed the cabinet members about the importance of the health cards. Provincial ministers and secretaries attended the meeting.

The decision to issue health cards to families of Balochistan was made during former Chief Minister Jam Kamal-led government. The cabinet discussed a total of 45 points during its meeting. The Balochistan cabinet also approved health professionals and risk allowance for specific class four employees in the province.

Risk allowance approved for health department employees

The handout stated that the cabinet approved a teaching allowance for teaching faculty members of the PGMI and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Quetta. The cabinet also approved the food authority bill 2022.

The cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of CM Bizenjo made a number of decisions to address the scarcity of water issue in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.

Cabinet approves recruitment of LMOs on ad-hoc basis

The cabinet approved the recruitment of vacant Medical Officer, Lady Medical Officer Specialist and Teaching Cadre Doctors and Staff Nurses at the District level on an ad hoc basis to the Provincial Health Department. The initiative aims to address the shortage of doctors and medical staff in hospitals and health centers in remote areas of the province.

The cabinet took serious notice of the chronic absentee doctors in various parts of Balochistan and directed the director-general of health to take strict action against them.
