LORALAI: Levies force destroyed standing poppy crop in Maikhtar tehsil of Loralai district on Thursday. During the operation, levies force destroyed poppy crops cultivated over hundreds of kilometers in the district.
Levies force intensified action against the elements who had cultivated poppy crops in Maikhtar and surrounding villages. The force took the action on the instructions of deputy commissioner Loralai, Dr. Attique ur Rehman Shahwani. No arrest was made during the operation conducted in the surrounding villages of Maikhtar tehsil.
He also demanded a weekly report from the officials of all Levies Stations on effective measures for the prevention of poppy and other drugs in their area. He said that operations against drugs would continue in the area. The young generation is heading for a catastrophe that will engulf future generations, the DC told levies men engaged in the anti-poppy operations in the area.
Balochistan government has instructed all deputy commissioners of the concerned districts to step up efforts against the elements involved in poppy crops in the province.
