QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday rejected the bail application of Hidayat Khilji, the key accused in the video scandal. Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch of the BHC rejected the bail application submitted by Hidayat Khilji and his brother Khalil Khilji.

The court directed the trial court to try the case expeditiously in accordance with the law and without being influenced. Police had arrested the accused Hidayat Khilji and his brother Khalil Khilji for allegedly making nude videos of girls and forcing them for sexual abuse in December 2021.

The accused had filed a bail application before BHC

Senior lawyer, Syed Ayaz Zahoor Advocate appeared on behalf of the accused in court. The accused had requested the court to grant them bail. The court however observed that the charged offenses are not only heinous in nature but also dangerous and harmful to the whole society. Granting bail would encourage the accused to play with the dignity and modesty of women at large.

Quetta video scandal had sparked protests across the province. The political parties, civil society and people belonging to various walks of life had demanded of the government to give exemplary punishment to the accused.

Police had also recovered narcotics from the possession of accused

Police had also recovered narcotics from the possession of the accused, Syed Fida Hassan Shah, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Quetta said. He said a narcotics case has also been registered against the accused.

The judge also observed that the accused were involved in other cases, which shows that they are criminal-minded persons. Therefore, granting bail to them would put the modesty and privilege of innocent girls at risk.

Thus, the accused being habitual of such crimes are not entitled to any leniency, the court concluded.
