The Pak-Iran train service was restored today (Wednesday) for the first time after the floods. In light of the special instructions of Federal Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Chairman Railway Balochistan Farid Ahmed, the Quetta Taftan railway track was restored for railway traffic.
The recent monsoon rains and floods were marked historic in the history of Balochistan. Flash floods destroyed the infrastructure of this province. The powerful waves of floods swept away buildings, roads, highways, and many bridges collapsed.
The government was working with robust abilities to restore the suspended railway traffic. After the completion of the Dalbandin railway, the first freight train for the flood victims from Zahedan reached Quetta with relief goods from its brother country Turkey.
Two more trains from Zahedan and Taftan will reach Quetta tomorrow with relief supplies. Today, 3 freight trains carrying 95 bogies of aid and other commercial goods left Zahedan and Taftan for Quetta.
The public and railway employees expressed special gratitude to the present government and especially to Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique for restoring the train service.
