This young couple lost their lives in a deadly traffic accident on the Quetta Karachi highway. The incident happened in the Sorab area near Kalat. The couple was coming from Karachi to Quetta when the incident happened, Levies sources said.

The couple was identified as Fahim Ahmed and Varda Urooj. Varda Urooj was one of the faculty members of Balochistan university. The incident happened because of a narrow road near Sorab and over-speeding, levies sources said. The vehicle of the couple was completely damaged in the accident.

However, Faheem Ahmed Khan was serving as district monitoring coordinator in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan. Faheem studied at the Hamdard University of Karachi and also worked at the Aga Khan Hospital Karachi.
This was a highly qualified couple, which fell prey to the Quetta Karachi highway commonly called the ‘killer highway’ in Balochistan. The incident was widely shared on social media networks and people mourned the tragic incident and lashed out at the government for its what they called stepmotherly treatment towards Balochistan.

Reckless driving and narrow roads continue to claim precious human lives in Balochistan

People in their tweets and posts on Facebook demanded of the federal and provincial governments to make sure launch work on the dualization of the Quetta Karachi highway as early as possible. The federal government has already given approval for the dualization of the Quetta-Karachi highway linking Balochistan with Sindh province.

Reckless driving, poor condition of highways, and narrow roads have claimed scores of precious human lives in Balochistan. The ‘killer highway’ continues to claim human life on a daily basis. The federal and provincial governments have repeatedly announced the dualization of the highway linking Balochistan with Sindh province. However, practically no progress on the ground.
Balochistan, which covers half of the country in terms of area has not had a single-kilometer motorway.
