Shahida Raza national hokey player dies in boat accident towards Italy

The dead body of the world-fame Pakistani hockey player, Shahida Raza reached Karachi on Thursday morning. Shahida Raza was one of the 63 ill-fated migrants including 30 Pakistanis who died when their boat drowned near Itlay last month.

The dead body of Shahida Raza could not be brought to Quetta because of bad weather conditions. “Now the dead body would be brought by road through ambulance”, Talib Hussain Hazara, one of the social media activists said. Shaida would be laid to rest at the Behesht Zainab graveyard Quetta.

Family members and members from the ethnic Shia Hazara community were waiting at the Quetta international airport to receive the dead body. However, at the eleventh hour, they were told that the flight from Karachi was canceled because of bad weather conditions.

The 27-year-old Shahida Hazara was a famous Pakistani hockey player. She was an important member of the Pakistani Women’s Hockey Team. Like thousands of poverty-hit Pakistanis, Shahida was also leaving Pakistan to reach European countries for a better future. However, she lost her life along with 62 other migrants when a boat drowned near Italy.
