The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) paid rich tribute to all martyred journalists on Wednesday. The BUJ organized a seminar on the eve of World Press Freedom Day at the Quetta Press Club.

“BUJ committed to upholding the banner of freedom of speech”, Irfan Saeed, the President of the BUJ told the seminar. He said despite all odds, the union was committed to ensuring the freedom of expression and impartial reporting from Balochistan. BUJ Secretary General, Manzoor Rind and other senior journalists also attended the seminar.

Senior journalists shed light on the sacrifices of slain journalists and vowed to continue their mission regarding truth and facts. They said Balochistan was not an easy place for journalists to work here.

Journalists put their lives at peril

“Journalists put their lives at peril and then report events”, Rahib Buledi stated. Mr. Buledi termed the role of the journalists’ community crucial in all democratic movements and the movement for the supremacy of parliament and constitution.

The speakers urged governments to ensure the safety and protection of journalists and Balochistan and let the newsmen perform their constitutional duties.
