Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili vowed to completely eradicate the polio virus from the province. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the task-force established for the eradication of polio virus on Sunday.
Chief Secretary Balochistan directed all concerned departments and officials to obtain 100 percent results during the anti polio campaign. He urged the parents to ensure provision of polio drops to their children.
The anti-polio campaign would kick start from Monday (today) in Quetta and 18 districts of Balochistan. Syed Zahid Shah, the Coordinator Emergency Operation Cell (EOC) informed the meeting that the campaign would be launched in 393 union councils of 18 districts of Balochistan.
1.2 million children to be administered polio drops
During the campaign, more than 1.2 million children under the age of five years would be administered anti polio drops. This is going to be a seven day anti polio campaign, Mr. Shah informed the task force meeting.
During the polio campaign, around 4,969 teams will be assigned to administer polio drops to children. He said that the anti-polio campaign in the districts of Chagai, Dukki, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Mastung, Nushki, Zhob, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Hub, Jafarabad, Nasirabad, Musa Khel, Shirani, Sohbatpur, Pashin, Chaman and Qila Abdullah will begin today.
Fool-proof security provided to polio workers
Zahid Shah, the coordinator of Emergency Operation Center Balochistan, said that fool-proof security will be provided to all staff during the campaign, on which Balochistan Levies, police and FC personnel will be deployed.
No polio case reported since January 2021
He said that no case of polio has been reported in Balochistan since January 2021, no polio virus has been reported in the environment of Balochistan since April 2021.
The presence of polio virus in the districts of other provinces of the country and in Afghanistan is a big threat for the children of Balochistan province.
