From Our Correspondent:

MASTUNG: Residents of Daringarh blocked the main Quetta-Taftan highway as a protest against the levies force on Monday. The protesters burnt tires to vent their anger.

The protesters chanted slogans against the levies force and demanded action against the responsible officials.

According to the administration, two days ago there was an attempt of robbery on the highway in the Daringarh area, after which the vehicle used in the incident was taken into custody. The road has been blocked against it, a senior levies official said. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The protest caused the suspension of traffic between Pakistan and Iran and long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the highway.

Finally, senior administration officials reached the spot and convinced the protesters to reopen the road for traffic.
