QUETTA: Angry transporters blocked main Quetta Karachi highway at Lak Pass against what they claimed unnecessary checking by security forces.
The blockade of highway caused suspension of traffic between Quetta and Karachi.
Long queues of vehicles could be witnessed on both sides of the highway. Passengers remained the worst sufferers of the protest of transporters.
Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Ali Mardan Domki took notice of the blockade of highway and directed the officials to make sure an immediate reopening of the highway.
Caretaker Information Minister Balochistan, Jan Achakzai stated that security forces had seized smuggled sugar from a bus. This was the reason of checking and the transporters unnecessarily blocked the highway.
Senior administration officials held negotiations with transporters and the highway was reopened for traffic.
