Iran fired missiles in Pakistani territory killing two innocent children in the Panjgur district of Balochistan province. Iranian authorities claim the missiles targeted the Jaish ul Adl, a Sunni militant group in the area.
Pakistan condemned the attack, describing it as an “unprovoked violation” of the Pakistani airspace, and warned Tehran of serious consequences. The Foreign Office said in a late-night statement that the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty was completely unacceptable.
However, local authorities rejected the Iranian claim and said drone missiles fired by Iran landed at a house and killed two innocent children and injured another three. Saeed Ahmed Umrani, the Commissioner Mekran Division said Iranian drones landed at a house in the Sabz Koh area of Panjgur district near the Iranian border.
Mr. Umrani said Iranian drones landed at the house of a resident of the Killi Sabz Koh identified as Kareem Dad. Soon after the attack, the Pakistani officials reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to a nearby hospital.
The injured were rushed to hospital for medical treatment. The ages of the dead children were between 8 to 12 years.
Jaish-al-Adl is a militant group established in 2012 and has been operating from Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province. Tehran alleges that the group also has hideouts across the border in Pakistan.
