QUETTA: Police on Wednesday night released over 100 students arrested during a protest demonstration near Balochistan Assembly. The students were trying to stage demonstration outside the assembly when police arrested them. The video of the arrests went viral drawing a public reaction against police and government.
The Balochistan government directed the police to set all over 100 students and employees set free, a senior police officer who preferred not to be named told Quetta Voice.
It may be mentioned here that Police on Wednesday evening arrested several students and employees of Bolan Medical and Sciences University to prevent them from staging protest demonstration outside Balochistan Assembly. Male and female students of Bolan Medical and Sciences University and employees had taken a protest rally to press the government to accept its demands.
When the protesters tried to stage demonstration outside Balochistan Assembly, the police stopped them. Police arrested several protesters and whisked them away in awaiting prisoners vans on Zarghoon road Quetta. The protesters strongly condemned the police act and lashed out at Balochistan government against police action.
For last few months BMU students and employees have been protesting against the current administration of the university vice chancellor for what they claim sudden rise in fees and reduction scholarships of students.
