QUETTA: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has pledged to eliminate terrorism from Balochistan, asserting that those responsible for shedding innocent blood will be met with unwavering force and national unity. Speaking at a meeting of the Apex Committee of the National Action Plan in Quetta, he highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of Balochistan for the country’s development and stressed that their efforts will not be in vain. The Prime Minister made it clear that only those who respect Pakistan’s Constitution and national flag will be considered for any negotiations.
The meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sharif, included the participation of key figures such as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Planning Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema. Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti, prominent provincial ministers, provincial secretaries, the Commander of Balochistan Corps, and senior civil, police, intelligence, and military officials were also in attendance.
The committee unanimously condemned the recent terrorist attacks targeting innocent civilians in Balochistan and resolved to ramp up counter-terrorism efforts by utilizing all available resources. The security situation in the province, along with ongoing anti-terrorism operations, was thoroughly reviewed, and it was decided to further enhance intelligence sharing and cooperation between security forces and law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, the committee agreed to bolster the capabilities of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Police, Levies, and other relevant departments. Both the Prime Minister and the Army Chief reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Balochistan’s peace and development against any external threats.
The participants observed a moment of silence and recited Fatiha for the martyrs of the recent terror attacks in Balochistan. They expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and lauded the security forces for their swift action in averting further casualties.
The committee also resolved that those responsible for planning, instigating, facilitating, and carrying out these heinous attacks would be brought to justice. The Prime Minister reassured the citizens that their safety and property would be protected at all costs. Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif distributed compensation checks to the families of the martyrs, reiterating the state’s full support and commitment.
