A deadly explosion in Balochistan’s Mastung district claimed the lives of five children, a police officer, and another individual, while injuring 17 others on Friday morning.
Kalat Division Commissioner Naeem Bazai confirmed the casualties, noting that the incident occurred around 8:35 am near Mastung Civil Hospital.
According to Bazai, the blast likely involved an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a motorcycle, detonated close to a police mobile unit.
Following the explosion, the injured were rushed to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and Mastung District Headquarters Hospital.
Eleven critically injured victims were later transferred to the Quetta Trauma Centre (QTC) for further treatment.
This incident has raised concerns about public safety in the region, as officials continue their investigation into the motive and perpetrators behind the attack.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, condemned the recent terrorist attack in Mastung, calling it a brutal act against innocent civilians and students.
He assured the public that all efforts would be made to swiftly arrest those responsible for the violence, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In response to the attack, an emergency has been declared in hospitals across the region to provide urgent care for the injured.
Security measures have been intensified in Mastung and surrounding areas to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents, with law enforcement agencies actively monitoring the situation.
