Islamabad, Nov 7- The federal government has announced a public holiday on November 9, 2024, in observance of Iqbal Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher.

This nationwide holiday is set to fall on Saturday, honoring Iqbal’s contributions to Pakistan’s intellectual and cultural heritage.

The Cabinet Division issued an official notification confirming the holiday, referencing Circular No. 10-02/2023-Min-II dated December 20, 2023, which lists public and optional holidays for 2024.

“Saturday, the 9th of November, 2024, shall be a public holiday throughout the country on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day,” the notification states.

Iqbal Day celebrations typically include events highlighting Iqbal’s poetic contributions and philosophical insights, which played a pivotal role in inspiring Pakistan’s independence movement.

The holiday provides an opportunity for Pakistanis to reflect on Iqbal’s vision of unity, self-determination, and cultural identity.
