ISLAMABAD: A policeman was killed, and another injured on Monday during clashes at the Hakla Interchange as a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convoy from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa entered Islamabad’s jurisdiction.

Punjab police identified the deceased as Constable Muhammad Mubashir Bilal from Muzaffargarh, who succumbed to injuries caused by “miscreants” while performing his duty to maintain law and order.

In a post on X, Punjab police expressed condolences and vowed to support Constable Bilal’s family. Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar praised the officer’s dedication, stating, “Punjab police will uphold the constitution and the law at all costs.”

Another incident involved a Sargodha police constable, injured by gunfire from protesters in Attock. He was transferred to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hasan Abdal for treatment.

Meanwhile, Islamabad remains under tight security as PTI supporters continue to advance toward the city for their protest. Residents have endured significant disruptions for the second consecutive day, including road closures, internet blackouts, and social media restrictions.

The demonstrations are part of ongoing protests by PTI, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, aiming to pressure the government. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid affected areas as tensions escalate.
