QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti announced plans to enhance funding for local bodies contingent on their performance during his one-day visit to Sui on Monday. The announcement came as he inaugurated the new office of the Sui Municipal Committee.

Addressing attendees, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of functional local governance. “We want to empower local bodies. By increasing funds based on performance, we aim to ensure that people no longer need to face the difficulties of traveling to the provincial capital for basic needs,” Bugti stated.

Highlighting the significance of local governance, he remarked that most of the population’s challenges arise at the grassroots level. Strengthening local bodies, he noted, would alleviate undue pressure on the provincial administration, fostering more efficient governance.

Balochistan Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and Chairman Municipal Committee Sui, Izzatullah Bugti, were also present at the event. To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister was presented with a commemorative souvenir by the municipal committee chairman.

The Balochistan government has achieved a historic milestone with a record allocation of funds for local bodies, reflecting its commitment to improving public service delivery at the local level.
