Quetta, February 22, 2025 – The Balochistan government has initiated practical measures to implement compulsory Holy Quran education up to the 12th grade across the province. This decision, approved by the provincial cabinet, mandates the inclusion of Quranic studies in the curriculum of all public and private schools.
Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, while speaking to media, stated that a dedicated class will be introduced in both government and private schools and colleges for religious education. The objective of this initiative is to promote Islamic values and familiarize students with the teachings of Islam.
“In the first phase, students from grades 1 to 5 will be taught Nazira e Quran (recitation), while those in grades 6 to 12 will study the Quran with translation and interpretation (Tafseer),” she explained.
The minister emphasized that schools have been instructed to implement this decision immediately to ensure compliance with the government’s directives.
This initiative is part of Balochistan’s broader educational reforms, aimed at integrating religious education into mainstream academics.
