From Our Correspondent:
Kachhi Bolan, April 13 — Unidentified armed men set fire to a mobile tower in the Chhatri area of Kachhi district, Balochistan, destroying essential machinery and leaving the facility inoperable.
The incident has severely impacted mobile and internet connectivity in the surrounding villages, disrupting daily communication, online education, and access to emergency services. Locals say the attack has further isolated the already underserved region, where residents heavily rely on limited digital infrastructure to stay connected with the outside world.
“No one is listening to our problems. The destruction of this tower has pushed us back by years,” said a resident of Chhatri, requesting anonymity for safety reasons.
Security officials have launched an investigation into the attack, but no group has claimed responsibility so far. Authorities say efforts are underway to restore the damaged infrastructure and improve security for telecom installations in remote areas.
The repeated targeting of critical communication infrastructure in Balochistan raises serious concerns about public safety, access to information, and long-term development in the province.
