Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA, April 18-Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has stated that the global economic competition is now centered around minerals, not oil — a sentiment echoed by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who unveiled a series of strategic development initiatives under the banner of “Uraan-e-Pakistan” (Flight of Pakistan).

Speaking to journalists and officials, CM Bugti stressed that Uraan-e-Pakistan is not a mere slogan but a well-defined strategy aimed at uplifting the province through practical reforms and inclusive policies. “Successful nations don’t just dream; they implement bold actions. We’ve started fundamental reforms within the Planning and Development Department,” Bugti said.

He noted that Rs. 210 billion in development funds are being utilized more effectively than ever in Balochistan. Major projects such as national highways and the Kachhi Canal were made possible with federal cooperation. “Without federal support, these roads wouldn’t have been completed even in ten years,” he added.

Highlighting the significance of strategic resources, CM Bugti said, “Balochistan’s mineral wealth, industrial potential, and geostrategic position distinguish it from other provinces.” He announced that an Export Development Board will be approved next week to promote trade and exports from Balochistan.

In education, the CM shared that 100 students from 12 underprivileged districts of Balochistan are receiving scholarships at Sadiq Public School, and Special Industrial Zones are being transformed from symbolic ventures into productive economic hubs.

Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to merit-based governance, sustainable development, and youth inclusion. “No progress is possible without integrating youth into the national mainstream,” he emphasized.

He also praised the impact of the Kachhi Canal Project, which is turning barren lands into fertile fields. “We’re launching long-term, community-driven projects that offer employment and sustainable solutions to water-scarce regions,” he concluded.

CM Bugti pledged to continue working with the private sector to transform Balochistan into a model province of pride and prosperity.
