QUETTA: Dr. Faisal Ahmed Khan, Chief of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Balochistan, has confirmed that 21 new green buses and 4 pink buses exclusively for women will arrive in Quetta by June this year.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Quetta Voice, Dr. Khan stated that the initiative is being implemented as per the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti. He added that the provincial government is fully committed to enhancing urban transportation under the PPP model.
“Currently, eight green buses are operating in Quetta, catering to over 8,000 passengers daily. The arrival of 21 more green buses and 4 pink buses will significantly increase this number, offering safer and more efficient transport to residents,” he said.
The pink buses are specifically intended to improve mobility for women in Quetta, addressing safety concerns and providing a dignified public transport option.
Dr. Khan further revealed that the PPP unit has also proposed expanding the green bus service to other cities of Balochistan, including Turbat. “Turbat will also receive four green buses as part of the regional expansion strategy,” he said.
He emphasized that June is approaching rapidly and that the arrival of new buses would coincide with the federal and provincial budget sessions. He expressed optimism that the improved transport system will have a positive social and environmental impact on Quetta.
This development reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and gender-inclusive transport planning.
