BOLAN: At least four passengers lost their lives while 28 others sustained injuries when a passenger coach overturned near the Dosa checkpost in Bolan district, Balochistan. The ill-fated vehicle was en route from Sadiqabad to Quetta when the accident occurred, reportedly due to reckless driving.
According to rescue officials and eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the coach, causing it to overturn on a highway frequently traveled by intercity buses. Emergency response teams, including the Frontier Corps (FC), Levies Force, highway police, and medical personnel, rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Sibi.
Hospital authorities confirmed that two of the deceased passengers have been identified, while efforts are underway to ascertain the identities of the remaining victims. The injured include individuals from various districts, such as Sadiqabad, Thul, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Gambat, Sukkur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Aliabad.
Some of the injured are in critical condition, and doctors are providing urgent medical care. The journey turned into a tragic ordeal for dozens of families traveling across provincial borders for work and other purposes.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the cause of the crash. The Balanari Levies Force is leading the inquiry, and legal proceedings are underway to determine responsibility.
This tragic road accident once again underscores the urgent need for improved highway safety standards, better enforcement of traffic laws, and stricter accountability for passenger transport services on Pakistan’s high-risk intercity routes.
