Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Government of Balochistan has initiated groundbreaking reforms in the provincial Finance Department to modernise and strengthen the region’s financial management system.
As part of this initiative, a dedicated Specialist Wing has been established within the Finance Department. This new wing will provide expert support in financial analysis, budget research, policy formulation, and revenue assessment. The team will consist of specialists recruited transparently from the private sector on a contractual basis.
According to Balochistan’s Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, the move marks the first-of-its-kind model in Pakistan, aiming to infuse private sector efficiency into public sector governance. He stated that budget-making, financial planning, and resource allocation will now be driven by data-based analytical models, resulting in improved public service delivery and more effective execution of development projects.
As part of the restructuring, several vacant positions within the traditional bureaucratic structure have been surrendered, and the department will now function with two distinct arms: a Specialist & Technical Wing and a Bureaucratic Wing.
This reform is a cornerstone of Chief Minister Bugti’s broader policy to introduce result-oriented, modern reforms across government departments. The initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in reshaping Balochistan’s financial future with a focus on transparency, efficiency, and sustainable governance.
