QUETTA: A high-level security meeting was held in Quetta, chaired jointly by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, to review the overall law and order situation in the province and assess progress on counter-terrorism efforts.
The session brought together key security and law enforcement officials, including the Inspector General of Police Balochistan, IG FC North, DIG CTD, DIG Special Branch, and Director General Levies. Senior officials from the provincial Home Department and other relevant institutions were also in attendance.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti provided a detailed briefing on the current security landscape in Balochistan, highlighting recent developments, challenges, and the status of security measures being implemented. The meeting also evaluated the execution of the Provincial Action Plan and identified areas where further coordination and support are needed.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed the federal government’s full support for Balochistan in its fight against terrorism. He emphasized that all efforts will be made to dismantle terrorist networks and eliminate their facilitators, regardless of external backing.
He stated that elements threatening the writ of the state would be dealt with firmly and decisively. “The battle against militancy is a collective responsibility, and we will ensure that no space is left for those working against Pakistan’s interests,” the minister said.
Participants of the meeting agreed that strong collaboration between federal and provincial agencies is essential to ensure lasting peace and security. They also underscored the importance of enhancing intelligence sharing and operational readiness to preempt future threats.
