Quetta – Authorities investigating the recent double murder in the Degari area have made a key development, obtaining DNA samples from Gul Jan, the mother of one of the victims, Bano Bibi. The collection was conducted following a request by the Serious Crime Investigation Wing as part of efforts to gather forensic evidence.

After completing a two-day police remand, Gul Jan was presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court, which ordered her to be placed in judicial custody. According to police, her arrest followed the circulation of a video in which she appeared to justify the killing of her daughter as a traditional punishment under local customs.

The incident, which took place in the Didi area, involved the brutal murder of a man and a woman. A disturbing video of the crime went viral on social media, triggering widespread public outrage. Members of civil society, legal professionals, and journalists demanded justice and swift action against those involved.

In response to the growing pressure, the Balochistan High Court took suo motu notice of the incident and instructed senior law enforcement officials to submit a detailed report. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to trace all individuals connected to the case.
