In an important development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir visited Banu.Â
According to security sources, the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal attended an important high-level meeting on counterterrorism. They also participated in the funeral prayers of 12 brave martyrs of the South Waziristan operation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that terrorism will continue to be met with a strong response, and no ambiguity will be tolerated in this regard.
Security sources stated that the masterminds and facilitators of terrorism in Pakistan are based in Afghanistan and are being supported by India.
The Prime Minister made it clear to Afghanistan that it must choose between supporting foreign elements or maintaining relations with Pakistan. He stressed that Afghan nationals are involved in terrorist incidents by crossing into Pakistan from Afghan territory. The early repatriation of illegal Afghan residents in Pakistan, he emphasized, is of utmost importance.
The Prime Minister declared that the people of Pakistan completely reject politics and misleading narratives on the issue of terrorism. He further stated that anyone facilitating or sympathizing with foreign elements and India’s terrorist proxies is complicit and will be dealt with in the language they deserve.
He added that the courageous people of Pakistan, particularly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stand united with the state and the armed forces against India’s proxy networks like a solid wall of defense.
The Prime Minister assured that all necessary administrative and legal measures will be taken immediately to ensure a more effective response to terrorism.
The Prime Minister and the Field Marshal also visited the injured at Bannu CMH.
The Corps Commander Peshawar gave a detailed briefing on the security situation in the area.
The Chief of Army Staff welcomed the Prime Minister at the Bannu Cantonment.
