Quetta – A powerful explosion struck a railway track in the Dasht area of Mastung district on Tuesday, targeting the Jaffar Express passenger train traveling from Peshawar to Quetta.

According to initial reports from Pakistan Railways and police officials, an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted near the track. The blast left at least a dozen passengers injured, including women and children.

Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the site immediately after the incident. Video footage circulating on social media showed rescue workers assisting the wounded as security personnel cordoned off the area. Four bogies of the train were reportedly overturned due to the impact of the explosion.

The injured passengers were quickly shifted to hospitals in Quetta, where an emergency was declared to ensure timely medical treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that the condition of some victims remains critical, while others are receiving necessary care.
