QUETTA – The repatriation of Afghan refugees from Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, has gained momentum as authorities push ahead with the third phase of the return plan.
According to Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrollah Badini, more than 35,000 Afghan nationals have so far returned to their home country from Quetta district. He said the repatriation process is being carried out in a phased and organized manner under the directions of the Government of Pakistan.
“The return of Afghan citizens is being managed in line with humanitarian considerations, legal regulations, and government policy to ensure that no party faces unnecessary hardship,” the DC said.
He added that the pace of the return process would further accelerate in the coming days, with all district-level institutions fully mobilized to facilitate the operation. Dedicated support centers have been established at border crossings to assist returning families.
During daily administrative operations, dozens of illegal camps have been vacated, while several Afghan families are preparing for departure by selling their homes and businesses.
Local residents and civic groups have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward upholding the rule of law and protecting national interests.
