Turbat: An awareness program was organized at Makran Medical College, Turbat on the occasion of World Prematurity Day, focusing on the care and health of babies born before completing nine months of gestation. The event saw participation from students, faculty members, doctors, and professors in large numbers.
The chief guests of the program were Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Member of the Provincial Assembly and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, and Bashir Ahmed Badrich, Deputy Commissioner of Kech. Professor Dr. Afzal Khalid, Principal of Makran Medical College, along with other notable personalities, was also present.
In his speech, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch highlighted that poverty and illiteracy are major causes of diseases that adversely affect the social structure of society. He emphasized that investment in education and healthcare is essential to eliminate backwardness. He praised the administration and faculty of Makran Medical College for putting the institution on a path of rapid development and encouraged students to pursue their studies with dedication to become skilled doctors in the future.
The program also featured medical experts including Dr. Waheed Bleidi, Dr. Misbah Baloch, Dr. Asif Baloch, Dr. Chakar Kashani, and Dr. Iqbal Baloch, who emphasized the importance of regular prenatal check-ups for expectant mothers to prevent potential complications. They advised that babies born at seven or eight months should be immediately monitored in hospitals by child specialists to ensure proper recovery and health.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and Deputy Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Badrich distributed shields among the administration, professors, and faculty members of Makran Medical College in recognition of their contributions.
