National Party President and former Balochistan chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has welcomed PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent stance on safeguarding the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the NFC Award, calling it a “positive and responsible approach” toward strengthening the federal structure.
In a detailed statement, Dr Malik said the 18th Amendment and the NFC Award represent landmark democratic reforms that empowered the provinces, enhanced inter-federation trust, and secured long-awaited political and economic rights for the federating units. He noted that these achievements stem from years of collective democratic struggle and political consensus among major parties under the Charter of Democracy.
He warned that any attempt to dilute or reverse the 18th Amendment would undermine provincial autonomy and destabilize the democratic framework. “At a time when the country is facing serious political and economic challenges, all democratic forces must stand together to uphold the Constitution, ensure parliamentary supremacy, and protect the autonomy of the provinces,” he said.
Dr Malik reaffirmed that the National Party will continue advocating for provincial constitutional rights and control over their natural resources at every platform.
