Members of civil society staging a protest demonstration outside Quetta Press Club against the murder of Anwar Jan Khetran, a local journalist murdered the other day

A protest demonstration was held outside Quetta Press Club against the murder of Anwar Jan Khetran, a journalist in Balochistan’s Barkhan district. The protesters had carried placards inscribed with slogans demanding the arrest of culprits involved in the murder of journalist.

Addressing the protesters, Ali Ahmed Langove, the leader of the National Party (NP) lashed out at the government for what he claims its silence over the murder of Anwar Jan Khetran. “We demand the arrest of killers”, Mr. Langove said.

Anwar Jan Khetran, a citizen journalist active on formal and social media was gunned down in Barkhan district of Balochistan on July 23rd. A protest demonstration was also held in Barkhan by political parties to mount pressure on the government to arrest the culprits involved in the incident the other day.

Women were also part of the demonstration held outside the press club. The protesters chanted full-throated slogans against the administration for its failure to arrest the culprits involved in the murder.
